Bio: Brittany Torres Rivera is the assistant editor at Graywolf Press, where she edits poetry, fiction, and nonfiction, and is especially involved in works in translation from the Spanish. She is an alumna of the Fulbright Program and a columnist for Letras Latinas, the literary initiative at the University of Notre Dame’s Institute for Latino Studies. Born in Puerto Rico and raised in Miami, she lives in Minneapolis.
What I look for as an editor: Brittany has coedited books by Kyle Carrero Lopez, Serena Chopra, Carolina Ebeid, Elisa Levi, Ariana Reines, Roque Raquel Salas Rivera, and chaun webster, among others. She is excited by poetry that balances rich imagery with vulnerable, candid excavation and revelation. Her fiction preferences skew toward the dark, brisk, and playfully inventive, and she is interested in nonfiction that challenges narrative conventions and notions of truth.
